About LocalFiles

LocalFiles is a collection of free file tools that run in your browser. The goal is simple: help you convert, compress and clean up files without sending them to an upload server first.

Built around local processing

Why this exists

File conversion should not feel like a trade: convenience on one side, privacy on the other. Many online tools ask you to upload a photo or document before doing anything useful. LocalFiles takes the opposite approach whenever possible: the page loads the code, your browser reads the file, and the result is created on your device.

That makes the tools fast to use, cheap to run and easier to trust. There is no account, no queue and no artificial daily limit.

What “no upload” means

For supported tools, the contents of your selected files are processed locally in your browser. LocalFiles does not receive the file you choose, and there is no conversion server storing it in the background. The site still loads normal website resources such as CSS, JavaScript, fonts, analytics or ads, which are explained in the privacy policy.

Current tools

What is coming next

The roadmap is focused on practical browser tools for images first, then PDF and text utilities. The next likely tools are image resize, WebP to JPG, PNG to JPG and metadata removal.

Principles

How LocalFiles is built

  1. Local first

Use browser APIs for file processing whenever the tool can work without a backend.

  2. Useful before clever

Each tool should solve a real upload, sharing or compatibility problem quickly.

  3. Ads without tricks

Ads should support the site without pretending to be download buttons or blocking the tool.
